Week of Prayer

Geneva will be going through a week of Prayer.  This will start August 3rd and go to the 8th.  The focus is that through the 3rd to the 7th that we as a church will pray every day with this focus; for the world, for another country, for our nation, for our government, for our SBC convention, for our state, for our community, for our church, for our homes, and lastly pray for someone that doesn’t know the Lord or has strayed away.  I believe if we as a church stand together in prayer then we open the doors for God to work through us.  The last day on the 8th we will be making that a whole day of prayer.  From 7 in the morning to 7 at night pray through reading scripture, through singing, through prayer walking, through setting aside distractions and focusing on God.  The church will host Three different prayer walks; the first is at 8am to walk around the elementary school, the Second will be 1pm to prayer walk around the church, and Third at 6pm we will prayer walk around the neighborhood.  Please join us in this week of praying as we look towards our future and the coming of the Lord.

Making Christ the Target of Our Lives

The Summer we will be hosting Centershot Ministries, which is were qualified instructors teach students and adults alike how to use a bow and arrow.  The sessions are broken up into eight Flights that take archery beginners from the very basics of the sport to a more in-depth critique of their shooting form and performance.  The Biblical lessons begin with a general introduction to the Bible — what it is, and why we have it.  The Bible lessons take place and are based upon the Salvation Poem.

The Salvation Poem

Jesus, You died upon a cross and rose again to save the lost

Forgive me now of all my sin Come be my Savior, Lord, and Friend

Change my life and make it new And help me, Lord, to live for You

Please join us on Wednesday’s June 17th- August 5th.  Pizza and drinks are served starting at 5:30pm and the event starts at 6pm, we will end at 8pm.  Parents are encouraged to stay and shoot with their kids.  There is a full safety briefing from trained instructors on an inside range.

Win The Lost

Dear Church Family,

I want to say a few things about the main thing we are to do other than worship God. Win the lost!

The reason to be a soul winner is:

1. There is no other way and no other name given except Jesus. A part of Romans 10:14 helps us to remember what we are to do. “How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have heard?”

2. God did not just give us a suggestion; it is a command. Mt.28:18-20 “…Go therefore and make disciples…”

3. It is in our power to do it! Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” If
salvation doesn’t fall under “good,” then nothing does.

4. Judgment is coming! 2Corinthians 5:11 “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men…”

5. The responsibility is on us. Ezekiel 3:18-19 was not written to us, but we can apply it to this subject. “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die'; and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you have warned the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.” Now, remember I said this is for application. What we should learn from this is that God gives those that are His A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF RESPONSIBILITY. Use it wisely.

6. To be a soul winner we must have compassion. Jude 22 “And some have compassion, making a difference.” KJV

Some may say I don’t know how. Please don’t let that be an excuse. We all know how we got saved; just tell people what happened to you. Yes, we do need to know some Scripture, but I don’t think that is the real reason we don’t share the gospel with a lost and dying world.
